July 2016 – During this time I’d been continuing my circuits, but to break it up occasionally, or if the weather at low level wasn’t suitable for circuits, e.g. strong crosswinds, or gusts, then I’d have a different lesson. One of these was Advanced Turning. This refers to turns at a steeper angle to what you would already be used to. I’d been doing turns where the aircraft was banked up to 30 degrees, but steep turns can be at 45 degrees, or even more for commercial pilots I believe. This was the first real time I’d felt uncomfortable in the plane, but I quickly got used to how to avoid that.
Also in this period it had been suggested that I get a medical, and I talk about the process, and how I got on.
